Operating Systems. Effective December 1, 2007, CMI will load refurbished PCs with Microsoft Windows XP Professional, depending on the hardware capabilities of the particular PC. CMI will request that the end-user make a donation to CMI for the cost of these operating systems according to the schedule below.
Application Software. CMI will also load, as the baseline applications program, the most current version of Open Office, an open source application with all the functionality of the most current Microsoft Office products, which is gaining a large clientele worldwide and which is essentially freeware. Although this is a no-cost system, CMI will ask a donation as indicated in the schedule below.

On Saturday, August 14, 2010, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Computer Ministry, Inc., will hold their third computer equipment Recycle Day for calendar year 2010.
New Federal and State Regulations (Act 101), regarding disposal of Class C Hazardous Waste (TV, Computer Monitors, etc. containing lead), will be adhered to by CMI. CMI now charges $5.00 per monitor that is larger than the 17” monitor criteria of being operational, and no screen burn. In addition to the monitors, CMI will accept ink jet printers, scanners, FAX machines, and gaming peripherals as donations only as scrap. We will continue to accept laser printers and plotters in working condition.

CMI began experimenting with offering Ubuntu Linux as an optional operating system for clients. Linux machines look and feel just like Microsoft Windows machines with slight differences. These machines would come with Open Office (similar to Microsoft Office) and Firefox Web browser.
